Residents making the trip across the Channel are being urged to check the media for updates as the situation on the ground continues to evolve. “Some local authorities may impose curfews,” the Foreign Office said in updated guidance. “Locations and timing of riots are unpredictable. You should monitor the media, avoid areas where riots are taking place.” Over 470 people were arrested overnight on Friday on the fourth night of unrest over the death of 17-year-old Nahel M, who was shot dead by an officer in Nanterre, about 11km northwest of Paris city centre.
