WASHINGTON, DC: Vice-President Kamala Harris apparently left the Internet baffled as she sent a one-word warning to Iran in the wake of the deadly Middle East conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group.
On the October 29th episode of '60 Minutes,' Harris, who is 58 years old, reiterated the warning while also affirming that President Joe Biden is "very much alive" and has intentions of seeking re-election.
During the interview, host Bill Whitaker asked Harris what message she had for the Islamic Republic in light of the Israel-Hamas conflict. To which, the Vice President replied with a single word: “Don’t.”
The host pressed for further details, but Harris remained unwavering, confirming, “Exactly, one word. Very straightforward.” Her response closely echoed that of President Biden, who responded to the same question with "Don't, don't, don't, don't."
Harris also declared that the Biden administration is concentrated on preventing the conflict from escalating in the region.
Nevertheless, accomplishing this task seems to be quite a challenge, especially in light of recent events.
Over the past two weeks, Iranian-backed militias have engaged in hostilities against US troops deployed in Iraq and Syria.
Additionally, Iran's allied groups, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthi rebels in Yemen, have initiated attacks on Israel using drones, rockets, and missiles.
In response, the US conducted airstrikes on Iranian weapons facilities in Syria. Furthermore, the Pentagon has deployed two aircraft carrier strike groups to the region, as reported by CBS News.
Kamala Harris declares that US has no plans to send troops to Israel
Later in the interview, Harris stated that the United States has no plans to send combat troops into Israel or Gaza. "We have absolutely no intention nor do we have any plans to send combat troops into Israel or Gaza, period," she affirmed.
The Vice President also asserted that instead of exerting control over Israel's actions in the conflict, the US is supplying it with weapons, guidance, and diplomatic support.
"A terrorist organization, Hamas, slaughtered hundreds of young people at a concert. By most estimates at least fourteen hundred Israelis are dead. Israel, without any question, has a right to defend itself,” she stated.
Harris stated that it's critical to keep Palestinians safe and secure and to keep them apart from Hamas. "We have been very clear that the rules of war must be adhered to and that there be humanitarian aid that flows,” the VP claimed.
She further noted that it has been difficult to keep the conflict from escalating with Hezbollah and the Houthis, two additional military groups, launching missiles and attacks against Israel.
Internet reacts to Kamala Harris’ warning
Harris' comments have attracted significant attention on social media, with users seeking clarification regarding her one-word warning to Iran. One user asked, "Don't what????"
Another user said, “I feel like saying, Madam Vice President, kindly elaborate.....just a little bit!”
A user slammed her by stating, “That’s all he can say! She’s just trying to make that look normal lol.”
One more user asserted, “It’s the only thing they have programmed into their hardware.”
Another user fumed, “Because she has no opinion of her own. She follows his lead, the White House writes her responses.”
“Look, don’t ask me about saying don’t because I don’t have a good answer that don’t (sic) confuse you,” one user said.
“What a terrible interview. She is a complete dumpster fire for the @dnc ! When the (sic) picked her, what were they thinking? Can you image her as POTUS?” one more wrote.
