SUN VALLEY, IDAHO: Jake Bloom, a renowned Hollywood attorney, has died at the age of 81. His wife, Ruth, confirmed that he died of natural causes in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Thursday, September 7.

Bloom and his partner, Alan Hergott, retired from the industry in 2019, a period during which the firm was still engaged in litigation with former client Johnny Depp.

Who was Jake Bloom?

Jake Bloom, originally named Jacob A Bloom, was born in Brooklyn, New York. His father was a physician, while his mother was a homemaker, according to Daily Mail.

Bloom earned his law degree from Cornell Law School. After joining the California Bar, he formed partnerships with Alan Hergott and Tom Pollack, leaving a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.

Bloom's educational journey included attending Columbia College before pursuing a law degree at Ivy League institution Cornell University, where he earned his BA in 1963.

In addition to his legal career, Bloom was a well-known philanthropist in the Southern California area.

He generously supported numerous foundations and organizations throughout his lifetime, including the Hunger Coalition, local Idaho Hunger Relief efforts, and various Jewish organizations.

Bloom was also a notable art collector and played a pivotal role in the art community. He was a founding member of both the LA Museum of Contemporary Art and the Venice Art Walk, showcasing his passion for the arts.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, two children, and four grandchildren, Naomi, Alex, Caleb and Theo.

Jake Bloom's A-list clientele

Jake Bloom was a highly respected attorney in Hollywood, boasting an impressive roster of A-list clients. He provided legal counsel to several prominent figures in the industry, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Johnny Depp, Nicolas Cage, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jackie Chan, and Jason Patric.

Jake Bloom's negotiation skills were on full display when he famously brokered Johnny Depp's initial contract to star in Disney's live-action 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film.

This deal was strategically structured to retain merchandising and theme park rights, ultimately leading to substantial financial gains for both Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

In 2001, Bloom achieved a significant milestone by securing a massive $29.25 million contract for Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in 'Terminator 3'.

This landmark contract not only included a substantial salary but also provided Schwarzenegger with additional perks such as private jets, a gym trailer, round-the-clock limousines, and personal bodyguards.
