MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: If Taylor Swift chooses to show up to her rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce's Week 5 game this weekend, she can count on a friendly reception. If she does, it will be her third Saturday in a row supporting the Kansas City.
In the midst of their developing romance, the pop sensation attended Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs' recent two games, first at Arrowhead against the Chicago Bears and then in New York Sunday against the Jets.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Minneapolis is urging Kelce's rumored popstar girlfriend to visit the US Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 8 when the Kansas City Chiefs (3-1) and Vikings (1-3) square off in Minnesota.
Mayor Jacob Frey invited the 'Anti-Hero' hitmaker to the weekend game before the Kansas City Chiefs' attempt to beat the Minnesota Vikings and go to 4-0.
In reference to Taylor's 2017 song, '... Ready For It?' Mayor Frey recently told TMZ, "If Taylor chooses to come back to Minneapolis [sometimes known as Swiftieapolis] this weekend, we’ll be Ready For It."
"It’s possible she will have to console Travis Kelce after the Vikings beat the Chiefs, but there are plenty of great spots across town for them to go on a date and lift their spirits!" Mayor Frey added.
When Swift and her Eras Tour visited Minnesota in June, the state was dubbed "Swiftieapolis" on Google Maps - Swifties being the title of her adoring fanbase.
Taylor Swift made headlines for her very public appearances at Chiefs' games
Swift, 33, and Kelce, also 33, have been linked romantically since June, but the NFL player is reported to already be head over heels for the pop sensation after she attended two of his games.
Swift has been enjoying her best life while on hiatus from the tour — which will resume in November — while cheering for the two-time Super Bowl champion both at home and on the road.
The two met during a private dinner date at Kansas City's Prime Social Rooftop and were later observed leaving the Chiefs' locker room at Arrowhead Stadium together after the earlier game's victory over the Bears.
The 33-year-old 'Cruel Summer' singer caused a stir last month when she and Kelce's mother, Donna, cheered on the Chiefs in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium.
Swift also attended the Chiefs' 'Sunday Night Football' game versus the Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with a few of her A-List friends, including Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds.
Swift may or may not be in attendance to support the Chiefs in Week 5, but Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy has already thought up a strategy to get inside Kelce's head.
What do Swifties and non-Swifties on social media have to say about it?
Fans and internet users have, however, been using the situation as an opportunity to make some wild comparisons and statements.
One X (formerly known as Twitter) user claimed, "Taylor Swift is kinda the United States Princess Diana. She’s the American sweetheart. All these mayors are begging for her attention to boost tourism and the economy. Her impact is insane."
"Can you imagine the disappointment if for some reason Taylor Swift DOESN'T come to Minnesota this Sunday?" questioned a second X user.
A third one mused, "HAHAHAHAH This man's career is over if people are more interesting now to see if Taylor is there and not if he is going to score AHAHAHAHAHAH"
Some fans believe that Swift is merely there as a distraction at the football games: "We don't even want Taylor Swift in Minnesota. Keep her out honestly lol"
The pop star might not even show up, which is a possibility expressed by some Minnesotans: "I can't wait for everyone in Minnesota to take it so personally and get all butt-hurt when Taylor doesn't come to Minneapolis for the Chiefs/Vikings game on Sunday."
Another X user snarked, "Taylor Swift, becoming the woman of the NFL football league... I guess! More NFL football Stars are going to get them, a celebrity woman.."
