LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: R&B singer Cassie has Aubrey O'Day's support following the former's shocking lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs for alleged rape and abuse.
“I’m in complete support of her,” the 39-year-old pop star told Page Six.
O'Day posted her reaction to Thursday’s news of Cassie filing a lawsuit against Diddy in the Federal District Court in Manhattan on her Instagram Story, saying, “Been trynna tell y’all for years. Prayers up for this queen 🙌🏼 @cassie.”
Her former 'Danity Kane' band member Dawn Richard tweeted, “Praying for Cassie and her family, for peace and healing. you are beautiful and brave ❤️.”
What did Aubrey O’Day previously accuse Diddy of?
Aubrey O'Day rose to fame after participating in Diddy's reality show ‘Making the Band 3’ and being selected to join the girl group 'Danity Kane' under his Bad Boy Records label.
However, during the finale of ‘Making the Band 4’ in October 2008, Diddy announced that O'Day had been dismissed from the group.
On a December 2022 episode of the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, O’Day claimed that she was fired because she "wasn't willing to do what was expected of (her) – not talent-wise, but in other areas," seeming to imply that they were sexual favors.
"I was the only one that was in those types of positions," The ‘Show Stopper’ singer stressed when asked if that was also expected from her bandmates Wanita ‘D Woods’ Woodgett, Dawn Richard, Aundrea Fimbres, and Shannon Bex.
Aubrey revealed to host Alex Cooper on the podcast, “You know, I have such a love-hate (relationship) with it all because I don’t think I would’ve been able to be so successful in so many other areas had I not been trained under Diddy.”
She added, “He was the hardest person that you can work for, and it was torture. And not the work part of it, but the other stuff — mind games.”
O’Day made claims that there was a lot of betrayal and lies in her past. She mentioned that she was young and easily influenced at the time.
She explained, “We understand our beauty, as women, through the eyes of the people observing us.”
“Well, who’s observing us? Men. So we learn our beauty through a man’s eye, which is very subjective,” she continued.
“So it’s difficult when you’re that young to understand your worth as a woman through the men that I was around, and that was very traumatic. I don’t think any of us have healed from that,” she confessed.
Furthermore, Aubrey stated that Diddy would frequently make negative remarks about their bodies, leaving her insecure and questioning her "worth."
Aubrey claimed, "Diddy would be like, 'You're not hot anymore. Like, what happened? You don't have any curves. I can't get people to think you're my good-looking person.' And there was no #MeToo at that time. There was no protecting anyone at that time. You signed a million NDAs and a million contracts that took away your rights."
Additionally, O'Day claimed that in September 2022, Diddy had instructed her and her former bandmates to sign nondisclosure agreements agreeing not to defame him or his record label.
"And me, as somebody that's a girl's girl, I hit everyone in my group and said, 'Absolutely do not take this deal,'" she went on to say.
Aubrey's remarks on Diddy have resurfaced in the aftermath of Cassie's allegations that the music mogul raped and abused her on many occasions during their 10-year relationship.
Cassie, who began dating Diddy immediately after signing to his ‘Bad Boy’ label in 2005 and ended their relationship in 2018, made the allegations in a federal court lawsuit filed on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
