LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer Kehlani condemned Israel's mounting attack on the Gaza Strip well into a week after the Hamas attack of October 7.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, the death toll of Palestinians as a result of Israel's counteroffensive has claimed over 2,000 lives, reports CNN.
Israel has issued warnings to the 1.1 million people living in northern Gaza to evacuate their homes, amid signs of ramping up its military offensive. As a result, tens of thousands of people have left their homes in Gaza, according to the UN's humanitarian office.
What has Kehlani shared on social media?
The singer shared reports of the rampant death and destruction in Palestine in her Instagram stories, as well as a video expressing her support and calling out celebrities who remain silent on the issue.
"Specifically to my peers and people in the spaces that I am in, what the f**k is wrong with you all? You are being silent for the sake of money and business...like that amount to what thf**k is going on? There is an insane amount of unchecked privilege on literal f**king display and it is gut-wrenching. It is disgusting," Kehlani says in a video story.
In another story, she wrote, "(It's) the way there isn't actually much of anything more important going on in humanity than this right now. (This) is an eeverybody issue. (If) you're just swiping (through) stories and kissing your teeth, saying 'thoughts and prayers,' ask (yourself) why u aren't enraged...infuriated. (I) hope you feel ridiculous reading this."
