NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In her latest podcast episode, Megyn Kelly discussed the possibility of Donald Trump losing the GOP nomination if he went to prison in the ongoing civil fraud case against him.
But before the former Fox News star could expand on this discussion, Trump supporters hounded the comment section of her podcast and declared that they would “still vote for Trump no matter what”.
The 52-year-old took the conversation to her guest on the show, contributing editor at The Dispatch Chris Stirewalt, who also entertained the idea that the Republican Party may think of excluding Trump if he’s imprisoned.
Megyn Kelly discusses possibility of Donald Trump losing the GOP nomination
Kelly started discussing Trump’s current plight in his civil fraud case but stated that current polls were in favor of Trump.
Despite that, Kelly pointed out that when it's time to vote next year in 2024, the Republicans may think of rescinding Trump’s nomination if he’s convicted in any one of the four cases against him.
“Do the Republicans at that point might say that I love him [Trump], but this is bulls**t, I can’t. We’re going to lose if our candidate is serving a prison sentence.”
Kelly went on to expound on the love the Republican Party has for Trump, but also shed light on their skepticism, stating that “sub-urban soccer moms screwed them the last time and they’re not going to love this."
She then threw the question to her guest Stirewalt who opined that if Trump is thrown in jail, the Republican National Committee has the “power to take away Trump’s nomination.”
He revealed that the “Republican Party is divided” and that taking away Trump’s nomination will be highly debated.
After hearing Kelly and Stirewalt’s comments, fans of the former POTUS sprung to action and declared that they would vote for Trump, regardless of what transpires.
Fans will vote for Donald Trump 'no matter what'
Many jumped to the comment section of her podcast and wrote in all CAPS that they would support Trump "no matter what."
One wrote, “I'll vote for Trump no matter what”, while a second said, “You all underestimate the love of Trump and they will write him in.”
A third mentioned, “We don't want anyone but Trump. If the GOP knew what was good for it they would back him. Look at his numbers, it's undeniable. He is the best man for the job. In my opinion, the secret service wouldn't allow him to be in actual jail”
A fourth added, “Trump gets my vote even if I have to write him in and he’s in jail. He will still get my vote. You get it Megyn?”
Another said, “No one better take my ability to vote for Trump away. I will be so PISSED.”
A sixth stated, “I’d rather vote Trump and lose than vote for another Republican and win. Because another republican is Joe Biden with an R next to his name.”
