LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s heartbreaking for the ‘Today’ fans to endure the absence of their two favorite hosts - Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie from the morning show. But as they say that the show must go on and in the absence of the duo, the network has picked Kristen Welker to fill the big shoes of Hoda and Savannah for the time being. Hoda and Savannah are on a short hiatus from the ‘Today’ show making viewers question their absence.
But there’s nothing much to worry about as Hoda and Savannah aren’t away to tend to some medical or personal emergencies. The ‘Today’ duo are enjoying the July 4th holiday and are expected to resume their duties soon. And as for Kristen, the fill-in host is delighted to be in the studio covering for Hoda and Savannah.
What did Kristen Welker say?
‘Today’ anchor Kristen Welke’s excitement about taking on the collective duties of Savannah and Hoda was second to none. The 47-year-old shared the photo of her alongside co-host, Craig Melvin behind the morning show news desk while they were off-air. Both Kristen and Craig sported huge smiles as Kristen revealed that she filled in for Craig's normal co-hosts Hoda, Savannah, and Al Roker, on July 3 episode so they could bask in the Fourth of July holiday.
She wrote in one of her Instagram stories, "Thanks to @craigmelvinnbc and @dylandreyernbc and the @todayshowteam for a wonderful morningIt's always a treat to spend time with this crew while @savannahguthrie, @hodakotb, and @alroker enjoy the holiday week.” Kristen covered for the missing hosts on July 4 as well. Craig teamed up with anchors Sheinelle Jones, and Pete Alexander to bring fans a stellar morning show and announced that Pete would be joining the news desk "for the week" in place of Savannah and Hoda’s absence.
Fans want a good episode of ‘Today’ show
The Fourth of July holiday was ruined by many fans due to incessant rains in New York City. With many fans deciding not to venture out in the rainy weather, they expect NBC to come up with a brilliant episode of the ‘Today’ show that they can enjoy. Macy's will still be holding their annual July 4 fireworks celebration after a day of rains in New York City while the department store company is throwing its 47th annual Fourth of July fireworks, featuring some huge stars. Fourth of July is a federal holiday known as Independence Day, which celebrates the USA announcing its separation from Great Britain.
