LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was taken into custody in Florida on Wednesay, according to prison records. The music sensation was booked into a Palm Beach County jail on Wednesday evening, August 9.
Born as Daniel Hernandez, Tekashi 6ix9ine faced charges of failure to appear, as stated in a report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Although within approximately three hours of being booked, 6ix9ine was released from custody.
Why was Tekashi 6ix9ne arrested?
This incident follows an earlier attack on Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was ambushed in a sauna at the Florida-based LA Fitness gym. His lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, revealed that 6ix9ine tried to fend off the attackers but was overwhelmed due to their numbers. Disturbing images captured post-assault displayed the rapper covered in blood, having sustained injuries to his face, ribs, jaw, and back.
In response to the assault, 6ix9ine labeled it as "cowardly" and described the assailants as "opportunistic." "What happen[ed] here was nothing but cowardly. I'm not mad this happened," said 6ix9ine.
"In the street, there are no rules, so I can't say they were wrong. Obviously, it wasn't fair, but again the streets have no rules. Just imagine having nothing to do with a situation and feeling obligated to make it your business. (Very weird) I'm happy to be here still. And I want to say I love my fans. Thank you," he captioned the post.
Despite the incident, he launched a new social media challenge in April, seemingly downplaying the attack and adopting a resilient attitude.
