HOUSTON, TEXAS: Rudy Farias, a 25-year-old man miraculously showed up at a Church in Houston, Texas, last week, eight years after his mother reported him missing. However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, Farias has shared horrific details that he was being held hostage by his mother Janie Santanawho works as an overnight security guard, all these years and used him as a sex slave.
Santana who is said to be a frequent poster on true crime chat boards on Facebook, announced her son's discovery and said he was in an extremely poor physical state and unable to speak. In 2011 when Farias was 13, he lost his big brother and 'best friend' in a road accident. Just two years later he lost his police officer father, Rudolph Farias III, 51 by suicide. Santana reportedly claimed Rudy suffered from PTSD, depression, and anxiety following the death of his brother and father.
Farias told investigators his mother 'made him play daddy'
Soon after Farias was found, allegations surfaced around the now 25-year-old's disappearance which prompted investigations of the case. On Wednesday after Quanell X, a mediator and investigators talked with Farias and Santana, what came forward shocked the nation. Quanell revealed Farias who Janie had even claimed was nonverbal was sexually abused and hidden by his mother for eight years.
Farias told the mediator that his mother made him sleep with her in the bed naked and "made him play daddy," as reported by Daily Mail. "Based on what that boy told me, I don't see why she's not in handcuffs right now. He was petrified but the minute he was by himself he calmed down. I believe she was drugging the hell out of this kid. He said he didn't like getting in the bed with her, that he would try to sneak out of the bed but she told him he had to be her husband."
Why wasn't Janie Santana arrested?
Despite Farias's horrific revelation of abuse to Quanell, his mother Santana hasn't been arrested. Surprisingly, the mother-son duo were reportedly spotted exiting the hotel they were questioned in and headed back home together. In a news conference on Thursday, Houston police disputed many of the allegations made by community activist Quanell X on Wednesday. Police confirmed Farias returned home a day after he was originally reported missing on March 8, 2015. They said he has not been missing for eight years as the family claimed.
Police said there is no indication that Farias was sexually abused by his mother as Quanell X said Farias told him and no charges will be filed in the case at this time. Chief Finner said it's early in the investigation. "Rudy is safe. He is with his mother by choice," HPD said. They also said they hope Farias will get the help he needs. “Rudy’s mother continued to deceive police by remaining adamant that he was still missing,” an HPD Lieutenant with the Missing Persons Unit said as per KHOU. He confirmed Farias had previous interactions with HPD patrol officers but they didn't realize he was the man reported missing. “During these contacts, fictitious names and dates of births were given,” the lieutenant said.

Neighbors and relatives say Farias was never missing as reported by his mother
Even as shocking allegations surface, relatives and neighbors have reportedly claimed Farias was never missing. They say he has been seen throughout the years and walking around the neighborhood. Cassandra Lopez a cousin of Farias told KPRC 2, "I was in shock. I was like, I couldn't believe it. I mean, I was glad, but I just was wondering what was going to unfold from it. Like, what was the story going to be behind it? Because it's just we always in our hearts knew that he wasn't really missing." Lopez claimed in 2018 they called 911 after family members saw Farias at his mothers' house Houston police went to the house but did not find Farias, it is unclear if they questioned any of the relatives. She said her grandmother saw her regularly. "She would just say, I saw Rudy. You know, he came to check on me and we said hello and we had a little conversation. She never went into detail, but she would say she saw him."
How was Farias found?
Quanell claimed that Farias took his mother's car to get away from her, crashed it, and wound up injured and battered outside the church last week, which is why he was discovered. He said Farias could not have gone missing for eight years since he was carrying his mother's two-year-old credit card. When he was asked about the sexual assault claims, Quanell said he did not want to go into details about the "kissing." When Quanell repeated the question, he replied, "Let me ask you a question - if your mother is tongue kissing you in the bed with her naked, what the hell is that? This is sick." Quanell said Santana convinced her son to remain hidden as police were looking for him to put him in jail. As he asked Farias why he ran away, he told him, "I was tired of living like a slave."
