HARFORD COUNTY, MARYLAND: A shocking update has come in the missing case of a woman who has not been seen since the evening of Saturday, August 5. Rachel Morin reportedly disappeared after going for a walk on the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air. However, on August 6, cops claimed the remains of a woman were found from the same location.
In a media conference shared on the Facebook page of the Harford County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said, “We firmly believe this is the body of Rachel Morin. But that final determination belongs with the medical examiner and that has not happened yet.”
‘It’s a homicide case’
“Thankfully we don’t have too much violent crime in Harford County, but when we have one, I prefer when I can stand here and tell you that the suspect has been arrested or that it’s a targeted crime. I can’t tell you that is the case,” he shared, as per The Sun, before adding, “I’m not going to go into what, physically, they observed at the scene. But investigators believe sadly that it’s a homicide case.”
Besides, an earlier official statement from the cops read, “At approximately 1:07 pm, a female was located deceased off of the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air. We ask that, since this is still a very active and ongoing investigation, please refrain from posting any details you may know (or guess) on this post.”
Who is Rachel Morin?
The police statement described Morin as “5’2, 107 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.” It added, “Rachel’s car was located at the Williams Street entrance in Bel Air. She was last seen wearing a blue or black tank top, black sports bra, black spandex shorts, and gray sneakers.”
Following the tragic discovery, Morin’s sister Rebekah took to social media to share her grief. She wrote, “As many of you have seen, my brother Nathan and his wife Magan lost their sweet Lily Beth a week ago. So our whole family has been hit with back-to-back losses.”
“My sister had no life insurance and my mother Patty Morin and I will be making the arrangements and need to raise funds to do so. So I have created this GoFundMe to pay for her funeral expenses. Please Share! Donate, comment. Whatever you can do to help get the word out! If you wish to donate directly please message me. Thank you,” she noted and attached the link to the fundraiser.
‘I wish this never happened’
Several people went on to express their thoughts and prayers to the devastated family as a user commented, “So sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers.” Another posted on GoFundMe, “Sorry for the families and all who knew her's loss. I have been thinking about this all day since I heard about it, I know that area very well and trail so it to me will never be the same knowing about such a terrible thing taking place, hope I could help with my small donation.”
“I just saw Rachel a few days ago. I have known her and her daughters for several years. She was always nice to me. I wish I could do more, then again I wish this never happened. I doubt I will be able to make her funeral as I’m leaving for a scheduled vacation. Condolences to family and friends and above all her children. Rest in peace Rachel,” a third shared.
