OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA: A woman has been fondly remembered by her friends and family after her life was allegedly cut short by her estranged husband on Wednesday night, August 16, in Oklahoma City.
Cassandra Flores, also known as Cassie, was reportedly at her home when 28-year-old Ruben Armendariz fatally shot her. Ruben did not spare their three children as he shot them dead too before taking his own life, the Daily Mail reported.
Who was Cassandra Flores?
Cassandra was 29 years old and the mother of three children – nine-year-old Hillary Armendariz, Damaris Armendariz, 5, and Matias Armendariz, 2. The woman’s sister took to Facebook to share her grief.
Rocio Flores wrote, “I can’t believe this. My babies and my sister 🥺 are all gone this feels like such a nightmare. I didn’t get to say goodbye to them and I feel such a guilt in my heart that I can't stand it. God is with us and he will never leave our side 🕊️🕊️ Fly high my babies fly high my beautiful angels.”
Many people commented below Rocio’s post with one saying, “So sorry you & your family are going through this girl. You know our family is here to help you guys out. Sending prayers and hugs!”
Another user mentioned, “My condolences and prayers go out to you and your family girly. Que Diosito les derrame mucha paciencia en estos tiempos difíciles.” “Omg I can’t believe this Cassandra was so sweet we used to work together at Golden Corral years ago🙏🏽🙏🏽😢😢 Prayers go out to y’all’s family 💔💔💔💔,” the third one added.
‘I never hear a gunshot’
Besides, a neighbor of Cassandra, Carol Crowell, told KOCO-TV, “Couldn’t believe anything happens here in the neighborhood, so it was strange that many people could die.”
Crowell added, “Only thing I hear around here is loud noises with cars, and there are no gunshots. I never hear a gunshot.”
‘Cassandra was a great friend’
A GoFundMe has also been launched to help the family of the victims. The message written there described Cassandra as a hardworking mother. It read, “Cassandra was a great friend, mother, daughter, and sister. She was working hard to provide the best life she could for her 3 children: Hillary, Damaris, and Matias.”
“Unfortunately they were taken too soon in such a tragic and unexpected way. The family is asking for help to cover funeral expenses. Everything is greatly appreciated! Please keep the family in your prayers,” it added.
Authorities investigate the case
A statement by Oklahoma City Police Department said, “This investigation is in the very early stages. Detectives are currently trying to piece together the chain of events that led to the massacre.”
Sgt Gary Knight shared, “They're still trying to figure out what led up to this. Sometimes we just never know. Nobody seems to have seen it coming. If they did, no one alerted us.”
