BROOKLYN, NEW YORK CITY: Nozima Husainova, a 25-year-old Citibank employee, has been fired from her position after she supported Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust in a vile online post following Hamas’ deadly attack on Israel.
Husainova was dismissed from her job on Thursday, October 19, after she sparked outrage with her comments from her now-private Instagram account.
“We terminated the employment of the person who made the revolting antisemitic comment on social media. We condemn antisemitism and all hate speech and do not tolerate it in our bank,” a Citi spokesperson said in a statement to Daily Mail.
Husainova graduated in June 2021 with a degree in finance from CUNY Brooklyn College, according to her since-deleted LinkedIn page.
She then landed a job at Citi Bank as a personal banker, a role “to foster relations with customers to build loyalty and to help increase sales to individual consumer clients,” according to the bank.
Husainova had assumed the entry-level position for the Wall Street firm just two years ago.
Regarding her social media presence, Husainova had over 4,500 Instagram followers before making her account private, according to the New York Post.
What did Nozima Husainova say about Gaza hospital bombing?
Husainova came under fire after sharing an Instagram story on the Gaza hospital bombing, commenting, “No wonder why Hitler wanted to get rid of all of them.”
The bombing of a Gaza hospital, which was first attributed to Israel, was later determined to be the result of a rocket misfire by members of the extremist group Islamic Jihad.
US intelligence services estimate that between 100 and 300 persons were murdered in a catastrophic explosion that occurred at the Gaza hospital on Tuesday, October 17.
By Wednesday, October 18, the screenshots of Husainova’s post were shared on Twitter by StopAntisemitism, which also posted a photo of her Instagram profile.
Critics on social media bashed Husainova’s endorsement of the Holocaust as “vile,” and “unbridled antisemitism.”
Following news of her firing, StopAntisemitism posted to X: “Thank you Citi for saying NO! to antisemitism,” while other users expressed gratitude that the bank “did the right thing.”
Internet reacts to Nozima Husainova’s bizarre post
Before her firing, Husainova’s bizarre comment garnered immense social media attention, with users slamming her for supporting Hitler in the wake of a deadly Hamas attack that killed nearly 1400 Israelis and left many more gravely injured.
“That is unbelievable. How does a person like this get into prominent positions at an internationally recognized corporation. @Citi shame on you,” one user wrote.
“Sad. Very sad. And she probably thinks Hitler would keep her around,” a second user said. “Wow that’s crazy she would say that. Hitler is almost universally condemned and I only say almost because people like this are still out there,” the third one stated.
“How can someone with a face like that be so evil? If only evil looked like in the movies, life's complexities would be so much easier to decipher,” the fourth user fumed.
“Hopefully the only companies that will give her a job offer are those located in Gaza or Iran,” one more wrote.
