LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: A man in Louisville has been arrested after police claimed that he kidnapped a woman in the Park Hill neighborhood.
Moises May, 36, reportedly forced a woman to strip naked, threatened to kill her, and used a machete to chop her hair while she was chained to the ground, as per Fox News.
A woman who was discovered chained to the floor of a Louisville, Kentucky, home last week was rescued in a video taken by a police body camera that was made public on Tuesday, August 22.
What did Louisville police see?
Officers were summoned to a home in the 1700 block of Bolling Avenue on Wednesday at 7 pm, August 16, according to LMPD, after calls from neighbors reported hearing a woman yelling for help.
When police came, a woman in distress could be seen from a window on the second floor.
Officers used a ladder to ascend to the second-story window after noticing that the home's front door had been blocked off, where they discovered her shackled to the floor.
According to the police, the chain was screw-bolted to the ground and a MasterLock was used to fasten it around her neck.
The woman was freed from the house by officers when they tore the chain from the floor. The first responders started treating her right away.
Why was Moises May arrested?
Authorities on Wednesday entered a house off Dixie Highway to rescue the victim, who was later named by Fox News as Joanna Wilson.
May, who fathered Wilson's child, is accused of forcing the victim to strip and imprison her in a home they once shared.
Wednesday's argument between Wilson and May reportedly marked the start of the incident. According to reports, the suspect violently restrained the woman, smacked her, and cut her hair with a machete.
As per an arrest report, May said to the woman, "You're gonna get it tonight. I told you the next time you leave and don't come home I'd kill you."
What did Moises May's victim say?
"He made me strip naked, he put the chain around my neck. He called his friend and said, 'I've got to take this equipment back to Lowe's. When I come back, I'm going to kill you.'" Wilson said to WDRB. "I only had a few minutes to get out."
Wilson claimed that if the neighbors hadn't dialed 911, May would have murdered her. She was able to open a window and warn adjacent neighbors by yelling for aid.
"Every door was screwed shut," the victim said. "The Fire Department couldn't even knock down the doors, that's how bad it was screwed, every window was bolted, every exit, there is no exit in the house."
What allegations are made against Moises May?
According to WDRB, Moises May, 36, was charged with kidnapping, two counts of assault, and terroristic threatening.
May was also charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process, wanton endangerment, and harassment, as per Fox News.
May showed up in court on Saturday and entered a not-guilty plea. His bond was set at $100,000, and his next court appearance is planned for August 28, as per WAVE 3.
Where is Moises May now?
As per the Louisville Metro Police Department, May is being processed.
"He has been transported to our Domestic Violence Unit where he will be interviewed and then to LMDC for processing," the LMPD rep stated. "We hope that this arrest will offer some type of relief to Ms. Wilson, the victim in this case."
