CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Jamie Foxx is reportedly undergoing recovery and learning “how to walk again” at a top rehabilitation facility in Chicago, which specializes on treating stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injuries and conditions that impair movement, an insider told Radar Online. The actor left everyone shocked after facing sudden hospitalization following an unspecified medical emergency back in April. At the time, his daughter, Corinne, issued a statement on behalf of the Foxx family and said her father was already on the mend despite suffering a “medical complication.”
She also mentioned that “the family asks for privacy during this time.” Foxx is known for being a proud father to his daughters Corinne Foxx and Annalise Bishop. His immediate family members also include his divorced parents, his father Darell Bishop and mother Louise Annette Talley Dixon. While both of his parents abandoned him a few months after his birth, Fox reconnected and even started living with them later in life. Foxx was raised by his maternal grandparents, both of whom have passed away.
What is known about Louise Annette Talley?
Talley is the biological mother of Foxx, who reportedly abandoned him when he was just seven months old. It was Talley’s adoptive parents, a domestic worker Estelle Marie (Nelson) and a yard worker Mark Talley, who eventually adopted and raised Foxx. While speaking to Oprah Winfrey for a 2005 issue of O Magazine, Foxx shared if he ever wanted his mother to show up on occasions like school plays or Christmas holidays.
“I wanted my mom to show up, but for a different reason,” he stated at the time. “She was so fly and good-looking. We were country [Jamie mimicked a country-western fiddle], but my mom was straight city. She had the new hair, the gold earrings, the Sting Ray Corvette,” Foxx described Talley. While the ‘Django Unchained’ star said he was “never short on the love of a mother and father” due to the deep care from his grandparents, he admitted, “maybe I missed my mother a little.”
At the time he said he never talked with his mother even though she is alive. When asked if he ever wondered why Talley lived with his sister but abandon Foxx, the a latter said, “Not at all. Because I'm older than my sister, it's not like she chose to keep one and not the other at the same time.” Foxx eventually reconnected with his biological parents after his father got out of prison.
He told Graham Norton during a 2020 appearance at his show that his parents have even been living with him in the same Los Angeles property for the past 12 years despite getting divorced more than two decades ago. Earlier this year, the Oscar winner even organized a lavish dinner to celebrate his mother’s 80th birthday.
How did Jamie Foxx reconnect with his estranged mother?
Foxx opened up about reconnecting with his estranged mother during his 2020 appearance at ‘The Graham Norton Show.’ “They've been divorced for 25 years and 12 years ago I sent my mom tickets and said ‘If you ever want to come for Christmas...’ She finally accepted and we had a good Christmas and New Year came. Her birthday is on New Year's Day so we partied for her birthday and then all of a sudden it was February,” the actor explained.
“I said, ‘Hang on a minute are you trying to tell us something?’ She said ‘oh I'm just trying to hang out.’ Now she's been living with us for 12 years,” he shared. Speaking about his parents’ living arrangement, Foxx shared, “They live under the same roof and what's crazy is that dad still dates, so she'll go on his side of the house just to see who's there. And she'll say ‘Oh this is what we're doing, is it?’”
He continued, “Then I'll get a knock on the door from him telling me ‘Can you tell her to stay on her side of the house? I've got company.’ I'll say, ‘Now, parents...’ But it's a weirdly fun household.” Foxx even arranged a luxurious dinner for his mother’s 80th birthday at Miami steakhouse Prime 112 in January. An insider told Page Six that Foxx organized an “epic” and “beautiful” birthday dinner for a group of 20 people in the restaurant’s semi-private wine room on the occasion of Talley’s birthday.
“There was champagne, steak, seafood, and desserts galore being brought to the table all night long. Everyone went away stuffed and the desserts came out in a big presentation with everyone singing ‘Happy Birthday,’” the source explained. Foxx also took to Instagram to share that he gifted his mom a gold and silver Rolex watch. The actor shared a video of his mother wearing the expensive accessory while dancing to ‘Rolex’ by Ayo & Teo.
