WEATHERFORD, TEXAS: A 12-year-old high school student, who shot and killed herself after shooting her father as part of a pre-arranged murder pact, has been pictured for the first time. Emma Brown died in September 20, 2022, just two days after she shot herself and her father, Daniel, 38, at their home in Poolville, Texas, around 30 miles from Fort Worth. It is believed the girl fled the home after shooting her father in the abdomen, and once she was outside, she turned the gun on herself.
Officials reported that Brown had plotted to kill her entire family and pets, along with another 12-year-old girl from Lufkin, Texas. She had also been planning to drive 230 miles to pick up her pal before driving to Georgia. According to a dispatch call made the night of the incident, Brown fled on foot down the driveway but only proceeded a few hundred yards before fatally shooting herself. Parker County District Attorney's office confirmed that the second girl, who has not been identified, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The details regarding her sentence haven’t been revealed due to Texas state law safeguarding the identification of juveniles charged with crimes.

In one of the exclusive pictures obtained by Daily Mail, the seventh-grade student was seen flashing a bright smile while holding her cat in her arms. Another picture captured Brown and Daniel posing with a rifle and handguns before the tragedy. As per reports, the father has an FFL license, which means that he was legally able to store and sell firearms at the family home. Shortly after the shooting incident, Daniel was discharged from the hospital and was anticipated to fully recover, according to the authorities.
Following the shooting, an autopsy by Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office listed Brown's cause of death as suicide. "The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy and ruled the cause and manner of death as a suicide by gunshot wound of head,” a statement from the Parker County Sheriff's Office confirmed. "The second 12-year-old female from Lufkin, who Sheriff's investigators believe was involved with the planning of the shooting, was taken into custody last week and has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder," the statement further added.
Why did Emma Brown plan to kill her family?
It has been months but the two girls' motive for wanting to kill their relatives and flee is yet unknown. "It doesn't matter if they live in a small town or a big city. Things like this can happen, unfortunately," Lufkin Communications Director Jessica Pebsworth saidm adding, "I will say that this case is a time to remind parents that it's very important to know who your children are friends with, whether that's in the classroom, social media apps, Snapchat, TikTok, and then also gaming platforms." Sources close to the family also told Daily Mail that Brown's family "didn't know anything about the other girl, they still don't."
