ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Law enforcement authorities have apprehended a man in connection with the disappearance and death of Imani Roberson, a mother-of-four who vanished nearly three weeks ago in Georgia. Donell Anderson, the husband of the victim, has been arrested and charged with her murder. Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levett announced the arrest during a press conference on Saturday morning August 5, 2023. Sheriff Levett further disclosed that an additional arrest will be made, but the suspect's identity was not revealed.
The investigation is ongoing, and there is a possibility of further arrests as authorities work to determine if others were involved in Roberson's murder. Investigators discovered Roberson's blood at her residence and in undisclosed locations. The woman was last sighted on July 16 along Plantation Boulevard in Conyers, driving her white Mazda SUV. However, according to Channel 2 Action News, her car was later found abandoned in south Fulton County, approximately 30 miles away from where she was last seen.
'I’ve seen all I can see. Three of my babies gone'
The vehicle had been burned from the inside out. Tragically, Roberson's body was located on Friday morning, August 4, though the specific location was not disclosed by authorities.
On Friday evening, Rockdale County SWAT teams and Atlanta police arrested Anderson at an apartment on Metropolitan Parkway. Speaking during a news conference on Saturday, August 5, Roberson's father expressed his heartbreak at losing his daughter and lamented that it was the third child he had lost in the state of Georgia. "This is the third child I’ve lost to the state of Georgia,” Roberson’s father said, adding, “I’ve seen all I can see. Three of my babies gone.”
'Our family is devastated'
Imani Roberson was a mother of four, including a 1-month-old baby, a 3-year-old, a 9-year-old, and an 11-year-old. She had left to pick up the infant and the 3-year-old home, but it remains unclear if she ever arrived there. Her mother reported her missing several days later when she had not heard from her daughter. “Our family is devastated. Being here today is extremely difficult,” her mother said during the news conference.
The family is devastated by the loss, and emotions were evident during the press conference. Anderson has been charged with several serious offenses, including felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The investigation continues as authorities seek to bring justice to those responsible for Roberson's untimely death.
