SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA: Tyler Christopher, the soap opera actor who played Nikolas Cassadine on 'General Hospital' reportedly suffered four traumatic brain injuries before his death.
Christopher, who was married to Eva Longoria for two years between 2002 and 2004, had been open about his battles with alcohol addiction and bipolar disorder which plagued him for much of his life.
RadarOnline reported that Christopher, who died at the age of 50, had multiple run-ins with the law due to his drinking problem and had fallen down the stairs at his sister’s home in Ohio in 2021, resulting in one of his brain injuries.
Tyler Christopher was once arrested for disorderly conduct
The report stated that Christopher was arrested for disorderly conduct on June 30, 2021, after being found intoxicated in a bank parking lot.
He had tried to get into the back seat of a stranger’s car and then the gas tank of another vehicle.
The officer, who responded to the scene, wrote in the report, “While waiting for Tyler’s sister, Sarah Amos, to come to the scene, I spoke with Sarah via phone where she advised she was not going to pick him up."
"Sarah advised that Tyler fell down the stairs at her home and should be evaluated at the nearest hospital. Sarah added that Tyler has had four traumatic brain injuries since 2019. She stated Tyler left the residence to get more alcohol," the report added.
Tyler Christopher had vomit on his shirt and had slurred speech
The officer also noted that Christopher had vomit on his shirt, slurred his words, and was unable to stand on his own without assistance.
“I asked Tyler what kind of alcoholic beverage he was drinking, to which he stated vodka. Tyler was observed to be heavily impaired and not able to stand on his own without assistance,” the report stated.
Christopher pleaded guilty to the charge in October 2021 and was fined about $200, court documents showed.
Tyler Christopher was arrested in May 2023 while taking a drunken nap
This was not the first time that Christopher had trouble with the law due to his drinking problem.
In May 2023, he was detained at the Hollywood Burbank Airport after he was found taking a drunken nap on the floor.
Police, according to the publication, said he was “unable to care for himself” and took him to the drunk tank.
Sources close to Longoria, who was married to Christopher from 2002 to 2004, told RadarOnline that she was “deeply concerned” about him after his airport incident.

In 2019, he was also arrested in Indiana after he fell asleep in an Uber and urinated on the back seat.
Christopher died of a suspected cardiac arrest and is pending an autopsy by the San Diego County Medical Examiner.
He was found dead inside a San Diego apartment on Halloween morning. He is survived by his two children from his second marriage to Brienne Pedigo.
