JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA: Sadie Myers, the mother of the four-year-old Florida twins who fell asleep in the middle of the night in their cedar toy box and died of suffocation, said the warm words from strangers helped "dull the pain" of losing the children.
In a heartbreaking Facebook post this week, the grieving mother of Kellan and Aurora Starr revealed that the two suffocated after falling asleep in their wooden toy box last month.
Sadie Myers thanks people for their kind words
In a message shared on Facebook, Myers wrote, "I want to thank EVERYONE for your kind words and for all the support and donations given.. You all have no idea what it means to me and my family to know there are so many people out there that care so deeply, especially for people you don’t even know."
"Reading all your kind messages definitely helps dull the pain, if even for just a moment, I greatly appreciate the help.. Thank you all so very much," she added.
A GoFundMe campaign created by Deanna, Myers' sister and aunt of Aurora and Kellan, has helped the bereaved family raise more than $35,000.
On the GoFundMe page, Deanna thanked everyone who had helped the family, saying, "I'm trying so hard to thank every one of you individually and reply to all of your beautiful messages."
As per Daily Mail, the twins' aunt also mentioned that she has been with the family every day since the tragedy and that the parents' messages from total strangers have given them enormous solace.
Deanna said, "They both worked full-time jobs, one in the morning and one in the evening so they would never have to leave the children alone with a sitter."
"I know they were always exhausted but they were still able to be so present and so loving with each of their four children, every single day, no exceptions," she added.
Since the tragedy, Myers has been uploading pictures of the twins. Also, she changed her profile picture to a photograph of Aurora pushing Kellan while he was seated in a stroller.
In addition, she urged people to "destroy it immediately" and warned parents that the toy chests became "air tight" and "soundproof" when closed.
The twins were discovered on August 25 morning by Myers' two other older boys.
