ROME, ITALY: Tom Cruise has recently gushed over his friendship with Janet Jackson. He referred to the ''great'' Janet Jackson as a "goddess" while showing respect. During his day off in May, the actor attended Jackson's live performance and couldn't contain his excitement while watching her perform live.
"That was a moment, yeah, that was my night off. That was my last break," Cruise shared with Entertainment Tonight at the world premiere of 'Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One' in Rome. "I just want to tell you to go see Janet. I'm right in there, yeah, come on! It's Janet, she's a legend," said Cruise.
'She's Janet Jackson! She's a goddess. She is a goddess'
In May, Jackson posted a selfie with Cruise on Instagram after spending time together, expressing her happiness at seeing him and getting to spend time with him. ''T, it was so good seeing you and nice spending some time together,'' wrote Jackson. "Yeah, she calls me T. Look, she can call me whatever she wants. She's Janet Jackson! She's a goddess. She is a goddess," Cruise explained.
Cruise is grateful for the accomplishments he has attained during his career. While talking about being a part of such highly successful movies and franchises, Cruise acknowledged that he "pinches himself daily" and does not take anything for granted. He also recalled his dream of being a filmmaker, and how he is amazed at the chances he has been granted.
'I don’t take anything for granted'
“I do pinch myself every day. I don’t take anything for granted,” he told the media outlet before adding “I remember being 18 years old, making ‘Taps,’ and I remember being 4 years old and thinking I want to make movies, and I want to travel the world, and now here we are in Rome.” He further added “It’s something that I am constantly [feeling like], ‘This is so out of body’ and ‘What is happening? This is wild’… I just feel very privileged."
The two-part finale of the 'Mission: Impossible' series, shot back-to-back, faced delays due to the pandemic. The first installment, 'Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One', is set to hit theaters in the US on July 12, while the sequel, 'Dead Reckoning Part Two', is scheduled to premiere on June 28, 2024.
