'She had a smile for everybody': Family remembers 1-year-old who died after being struck by train

HARDIN, MISSOURI: A family has been left devastated after their one-year-old girl was fatally struck by a train. The toddler was hit while being “stationary" on the railroad tracks Saturday morning, May 13, the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) said in a report.

The tot’s parents Daylea and Hunter named her Harper during an interview with CBS affiliate KCTV. They also shared that the little one would have soon turned two. Daylea told the station, “Harper was a happy baby. She loved everybody. Harper was very adventurous. She never wanted to do anything alone. She never wanted help. I don’t blame anyone.”

At this time we will not be making any statements. We ask you to pray for all affected by today's event and respect their privacy. Sincerely, Sheriff Scott Childers.”

Childers also spoke with KCTV and said, “We live in an age where everybody wants to know everything. But sometimes accidents happen, incidents happen and we have to respect people’s privacy.”

Anything will help and prayers are welcome!”
