LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicolas Cage's son Weston Cage Coppola is facing legal trouble as his ex-wife Hila has filed a restraining order against him following a heated confrontation at a Los Angeles courthouse. The acrimonious dispute over spousal and child support reportedly erupted following a settlement session on June 5, where Weston Cage Coppola, his mother, and his fiancee allegedly planned to threaten his ex-wife, Hila.
Hila described the incident stating, "The three of them made explicit threats and engaged in harassment, causing significant distress and creating an atmosphere characterized by fear, hostility, and posturing physical harm," as per the restraining order obtained by RadarOnline.
'The situation escalated'
Hila plans to collect security evidence to back her claims about Weston's disregard for proper legal conduct. The situation escalated to the point where law enforcement had to be called as Hila explained, "The situation escalated to such a degree that it became necessary to call upon the presence of Sheriff Detective to restore order and ensure my safety within the courthouse premises."
Weston has to stay 100 yards away from her
Hila wasted no time and promptly filed for a restraining order while her friend, who was present for emotional support, remained traumatized in the car, trembling and in tears. The restraining order Hila obtained requests that Weston stays 100 yards away from her, their twin children, her parents, her brother, and even their French bulldog Draco. Hila indicated concerns about Weston's treatment of animals, stating, "Yes," when asked if Weston abuses animals.
'I am in constant fear for my safety and well-being'
Hila expressed her ongoing fear for her safety and well-being, emphasizing, "I am in constant fear for my safety and well-being when on the premises of the court. He has threatened each person individually, violent threats and to ruin people and defame and harass them." She described the impact on her mental and emotional health saying, "This has a significant negative impact on my mental and emotional health causing me immense stress, anxiety and constant sense of vulnerability."
Hila is seeking up-front defense funds
Hila also claimed that the drama unfolded in front of Weston's lawyer Philip J Marr, accusing him of failing to exert control or provide guidance during the confrontation. However, Marr was unavailable for comment at the time of reporting. As Hila lacks legal representation, she requested up-front defense funds, explaining, "Hila is seeking up-front defense funds because she doesn't have a lawyer and feels legally outgunned by the Renfield actor's privileged son."
Weston is up against Hila who is requesting more spousal and child support
Weston, 32, is up against Hila, who is requesting more spousal and child support as well as $30,000 in legal fees to hire a top-notch attorney to assist in the negotiations. The legal battle began earlier this year when the single mother submitted a claim asking for $4,634 a month in support to help care for their lovely two-year-old twins, Venice and Cyress.
Hila alleged that Nicolas Cage reneged on a promise to care for their grandchildren
Additionally, Hila alleged that Nicolas Cage reneged on a promise to care for their grandchildren due to Weston's battle with addiction. Cage's lawyer Brian G Wolf vehemently denied all of Hila's allegations stating, "The actor has no involvement or participation in the matter whatsoever." In 2018, the pair got married in a celebrity-studded ceremony at Weston's great-uncle Francis Ford Coppola's California mansion. In order to safeguard their twins in 2021, Hila claimed that she had to live separately from Weston due to reported affairs and drug-related violence.
