GREENVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA: MrBeast, the renowned YouTube personality, recently expressed his thoughts on the current trend of fast-paced videos on the platform 'X' (formerly Twitter).
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing storytelling in YouTube content.
Over the years, MrBeast has dominated the YouTube landscape with his distinctive style and achieved remarkable success.
In a recent tweet, MrBeast celebrated a significant milestone, reaching an impressive 200 million subscriber count on YouTube.
This achievement is a testament to his influence and popularity in the online community.
Why does MrBeast prefer 'closed-mouth' thumbnails?
MrBeast continues to soar to new heights with his latest video, '$1 vs $100,000,000 House', which shattered the previous record for the most viewed non-music video in 24 hours, a record he previously held too.
Amidst his celebration of this achievement, MrBeast shared his thoughts on how a change in the thumbnail image has affected his content views and also the overall trend of "fast-paced" videos on YouTube, which, in his view, can diminish the importance of storytelling.
In a comment, MrBeast remarked, "What’s interesting is it’s with a closed mouth thumbnail (thank gosh open mouth was cringe) I screamed way less in the video lol. We slowed the video down a lot."
This adjustment allowed for a different style of content, where he and his team were "dumb" in a fun way, and he cut away less parts than he normally does from his videos.
MrBeast further emphasized, "And it seems like everyone liked the changes. Hopefully other creators notice because I feel like in general content on YouTube has gotten to fast paced/tense and I want to lead by example and show that viewers don’t want that."
"Focus less on screaming/moving fast and more on story!" he adviced aspiring content creators.
In response to a user's comment on his above-mentioned tweet, MrBeast explained, "The retention on my newer videos where I’ve tested these things are much higher than the ones where I used my old methods."
As for thumbnails we’ve done tons of A/B testing and people hate open mouth."
MrBeast's fans say they like the 'slower pace' but trolls say 'it's boring'
After MrBeast declared his desire to influence other YouTube content creators to prioritize storytelling in their videos, numerous viewers, who had watched MrBeast's latest video, stepped forward to share their opinions on X (formerly Twitter).
One wrote, "Go back to your original style, this one was kinda boring."
Another post read, "I liked the slower peace of the video and seeing the boys goof around! It was more realistic cuz most people I know would do silly things like Karl and chandler does."
Another viewer stated, "You are hinting at us the closed or open mouth on thumbnails makes a huge difference. I guess your attention to detail is why you are above the rest."
