NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Taylor Swift is 'single' again as the singer has reportedly split from Matty Healy after a whirlwind one-month romance. However, the reason for their break-up remains unclear. The now-former couple was spotted together several times at Swift's Eras tour.
On Monday, June 5, a friend close to Swift, 33, and Healy, 34 told TMZ about their split. Outside New York City's Electric Lady recording studio, the pair were often photographed together. During their double date with Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley at Casa Cipriani, Swift, and Healy were seen "cuddling and kissing," according to Page Six.
Swift dated Healy after her break up with Joe Alwyn
Swift began dating Healy after she broke up with Joe Alwyn after they dated for six years. The 'Love Story' singer and 'The 1975' rocker's recent romance was not their first. In 2014, they appeared to have dated for a brief period. At the time, Healy teased Australia's 'Shazam Top 20' that they exchanged numbers and added, "Let’s see what happens."
However, the 'Anti-Hero' singer's diehard fans, the Swifties, were not welcoming after rumors of her romance with Healy broke out as he was slammed over his racist statements, reported Page Six.
Swifties went to the extent of launching a campaign named '#SpeakUp', urging the Grammy Award winner to address her new beau's comments. "Use your platform responsibly and intentionally. Advocate for inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and promote empathy and understanding," read their statement.
'It’ll give her more inspiration for her next album'
Following Swift's and Healy's split, internet users rushed to comment on not being surprised about their break up. We can all agree Taylor Swift is the problem right?", a Twitter user wrote while another tweeted, "I would be completely at peace with never hearing about Matty Healy for the rest of my life," and someone remarked, "Thought they were ‘in love’ last weekend? Oh well, it’ll give her more inspiration for her next album."
"Omg, what happened they were such a cute couple," a fan wrote while another Twitter user wrote, "Every song on the next album will be a breakup song about Matty then yeah?" and someone tweeted, "That wasn't long...maybe she needed material for her next song...?".
