LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beloved actor Matthew Perry was pronounced dead on Saturday, October 28, after being found unresponsive in a hot tub by his assistant at his Pacific Palisades home.
Following his death, an inside source told TMZ that Perry's assistant allegedly called an "unrelated" mystery woman to inform her about his sudden death after contacting emergency services and his family.
The assistant reportedly called 911 as well as the star's mother and one of his siblings before calling the unidentified woman.
Matthew Perry's assistant left his home for 2 hours before finding him dead
According to The Mirror, the same personal assistant, who has not been named, reportedly left Perry alone at his home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles for just two hours to buy a new iPhone and prescription glasses for the actor.
Unfortunately, the assistant found him unresponsive in the jacuzzi when they returned home and called 911. First responders reportedly received a call at 4.07 pm that the actor had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at Perry's home and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Reports suggest that Perry's assistant's fourth call, after he informed the family and emergency services, was to a woman who was not a relative.
The identity of the assistant who made the call and the mystery woman has not been revealed to the public.
Matthew Perry was believed to be single at the time of his death
While the identity of the woman who Perry's assistant insisted on calling after his death remains a mystery, the actor was reportedly believed to be single at the time of death.
As per The Mirror, despite experiencing a turbulent love life in his younger days, Perry stayed single and focussed on his sobriety before his passing.
Over the years, Perry dated a string of stars, including Julia Roberts, Yasmine Bleeth, Lizzy Caplan, and Lauren Graham, among others.
A few years before his death, Perry also got engaged to literary manager Molly Hurwitz in 2020. Unfortunately, the couple parted ways just seven months after their engagement.
"Sometimes things just don't work out and this is one of them, I wish Molly the best," Perry told People magazine at the time.
Authorities found prescription drugs at Matthew Perry's home
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that while authorities did not find illegal drugs at the home where Perry was found dead, they reportedly came across numerous Rx drugs.
Officials allegedly found anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medicines and a COPD drug in the house, which is often used by people who have emphysema or chronic bronchitis.
The LA County Coroner has reportedly decided to conduct a toxicology exam to determine the presence of any drugs in Perry's system. However, this process could reportedly take several months.
