SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Ahead of the theatrical release of 'Barbie', Margot Robbie, the star of the film, attended a glamorous party at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art in her native Australia. The 32-year-old actress dazzled in a glitzy pink dress, embracing the iconic Barbie aesthetic.

The highly anticipated movie features Ryan Gosling, 42, as the character Ken, opposite Robbie. However, despite the excitement surrounding the film, Margot has stated that there are currently no plans for a sequel.

Robbie’s Versace look

The star made a stunning appearance for the Barbie event. She donned a mesmerizing pink metal mesh Versace dress, featuring a sweetheart neckline corset top and a flowing skirt that elegantly fell just above her knees.

To keep the focus on the dress, Robbie opted for minimal accessories, completing the ensemble with matching pink clear sandals. Her hair was styled in a natural, windswept manner, adding to the effortless charm of her look. With a touch of rosy blush and a deep pink lipstick, she enhanced her features while maintaining a subtle and elegant aesthetic.

The dress itself paid homage to the '90s, drawing inspiration from an archival Versace piece that was originally worn by renowned model Claudia Schiffer in 1994. Robbie's stylist, Andrew Mukamal, shared the origins of the dress on his Instagram Story, featuring a captivating photo of Schiffer dancing in the gown, capturing the ethereal sparkle of the fabric as it reflected the light.

Robbie, the real-life Barbie

Barbie takes audiences on a journey through the doll's adventures in the real world and is set to hit cinemas on July 21. In the film, Margot's character is seen sporting rainbow Lycra and a matching cap, eventually getting arrested after an assault on Venice Beach in Los Angeles. Ken, Barbie's boyfriend, joins her behind bars, humorously depicted by a name board that simply reads "And Ken," highlighting his secondary role as her accessory.

Margot Robbie has taken great care to ensure that the Barbie film honors the brand appropriately. She has acknowledged the doll's history of being sexualized but emphasized that she should not be portrayed as explicitly sexy. Robbie believes that while Barbie can wear a short skirt, it should be in a fun and playful manner, rather than with the intention of being sexually provocative.

‘Building cubbies was what we did all day’

Speaking to Vogue in March, the ‘Wolf Of The Wall Street’ actor opened up about the ‘Barbie’ movie. During a breakfast conversation in Venice Beach, Margot Robbie revealed that she wasn't particularly obsessed with Barbie dolls as a child. In fact, she's uncertain if she even owned one herself. Growing up on Australia's Gold Coast, Robbie spent most of her time outdoors.

She fondly remembered playing with her cousin, engaging in activities such as making mud pies and playing with trucks. While Barbies were a part of their playtime, their main focus was constructing forts, which Australians refer to as "cubbies." “Building cubbies was what we did all day, every day," she said. Building these structures consumed their days, providing endless enjoyment and imaginative adventures.
