LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Cattrall has raised several eyebrows as she is reportedly set to reprise her iconic role of Samantha Jones in Season 2 of 'And Just Like That'. She had given a completely different narrative during an interview with The Times just a couple of weeks before Variety confirmed her cameo.
Even Decca Aitkenhead, the journalist who took the interview for the outlet, was instructed not to ask the 66-year-old about the show. "I moved on,” Cattrall told Aitkenhead when she was asked about the show's behind-the-scenes drama. “I think the greatest place to negotiate from, whatever the situation, is from strength and self-knowledge. Also, at this point in my life I don’t want to be on a set and be unhappy. I want it to be on terms that are artistically fulfilling and also that I am happy.”
Kim set specific conditions for return
It has been reported that Kim shot her dialogue on March 22 in New York City, "without seeing or speaking with" the other stars of the series or showrunner Michael Patrick King. According to Page Six, the actor had some specific demands in place. “Kim had two stipulations - one, that she would not act with any of the other girls, and two, she did not want to see Michael Patrick King,” a source told the outlet. Apparently, she also received a huge compensation for her return to the show. "She will have gotten a s–tload of money. It just shows the power of Kim. They still need her on the show. But even though this may get fans thinking she’ll be back for the next season, she’ll never do that. She was treated poorly. I’m glad she gets to be the hero … I’m sure it took a lot of massaging to make the cameo happen,” the source revealed.
Kim's beef with Sarah Jessica Parker
Cattrall famously said no to returning to her role as Samantha Jones for 'Sex and the City 3' and was also asked not to get involved in the 'And Just Like That' reboot. She had previously discussed her feud with Sarah Jessica Parker. A few years ago, she took to social media to criticize Parker’s public condolences after the death of her brother. Cattrall accused her of exploiting her family tragedy for personal gain.
The five-time Emmy award nominee discussed turning down the third 'Sex and the City' film in a 2019 interview. "No, that's not for me," she shared. "No, I've been there. I've done that. No, I won't be bullied. No, that salary is unacceptable. No, we are not having a meeting in your hotel room. And one of my favorites in particular: No, I don't want to be in a situation for a moment that is not enjoyable."
