AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan is in hot water once again over his controversial remark! Rogan received brutal backlash on the internet for his offensive comment about Los Angeles's homeless people on his podcast, 'The Joe Rogan Experience'.
Rogan's remarks came just a few weeks before Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass reissued her state of emergency proclamation on homelessness, telling reporters on Monday, July 10, that the city had over 46,000 unhoused persons and that the situation was only growing worse.
'Go shoot homeless people'
On Friday, July 7, Rogan invited comedian guest, Tom Segura, on his podcast where the two discussed the rising issue of homelessness in LA. During the conversation, Rogan seemed astonished when Segura pointed out that homeless people's belongings are "protected property... by law" in LA.
Segura said, "When you see stuff like that on the streets, at least in Los Angeles or California, that’s protected property. Like by law. That’s a person’s property by law." Hearing this, Rogan said in amusement, "Oh, a homeless person’s property is protected?"
Further discussing, the 55-year-old podcast host said, "You’d get arrested. Hilarious. But they wouldn’t arrest you if you shot somebody. Maybe you should just go shoot the homeless people." Segura agreed and added, "I like your ideas."
"And if nobody claims it. I mean nobody does anything about violent crime in LA anymore," Rogan concluded.
'Cannot believe he said that'
Rogan's comments were widely condemned on social media. A Twitter user posted a clip on the platform, criticizing the podcaster for a violent statement. He wrote, "Nothing like a couple of rich f**ks setting around smoking cigars and criticizing people at their rock bottom. And that last line? "Maybe you should just go S**T the homeless people." A second user said, "Holy s**t!!!! I cannot believe he said that! He does know some of his followers will now do that, right?" A third user said, "Maybe Rogan should quit smoking weed if he can't handle it and it makes him violent."
A fan of Rogan stood in support and said, "It’s called sarcasm but you ppl and media won’t stop with rogan because he said bad things about the vaccine lol shits hilarious. Give it up u can’t cancel him." Another added, "Very irresponsible response. He wasn't saying to shoot homeless ppl or anyone literally. He was making a point. Y'all are trying to cancel@joerogan
by any means smh."
