LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jada Pinkett Smith, a longtime friend of late Tupac Shakur has shared her emotional response to the arrest of the suspect in connection with the murder of the rap legend.
The 52-year-old actress said she seeks "closure" over Shakur's tragic death in 1996. Following the news of suspect Keefe Davis' arrest on Friday, September 29, Smith took to Instagram to react to the case development.
"Now I hope we can get some answers and have some closure. RIP Pac," she wrote, adding a dove emoji.
Who is Keefe Davis?
Keefe Davis, whose real name is Duane 'Keffe' D Davis was arrested on Friday by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The unsolved killing of Shakur witnessed a breakthrough after 27 years following Davis' arrest. He has been charged with one count of murder with a gang enhancement, according to People.
At a press conference on Friday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials described Davis as the "on-ground, on-site commander" who "ordered the death" of the rap icon.
Davis claimed in his memoir 'Compton Street Legends' that he is one of the "three living eyewitnesses” to Shakur's killing.
Shakur who was shot four times on the Las Vegas strip on September 7, 1996, succumbed to his injuries on September 13.
The murder has since been speculated as gang-related. The 25-year-old rapper was associated with the Bloods street gang.
Shakur was engaged in a fight with Orlando Anderson following a boxing match that featured Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon on the night of the shooting, according to CBS News.

Smith has talked about her long and enduring friendship with Shakur that began when they were students at the Baltimore School of the Arts in Maryland.
"It was the first day and he came over to me and introduced himself. Definitely from looking at him, wasn’t necessarily the type of cat that I would even like, deal with," Smith said in an interview.
"But as soon as he approached me, he was like a magnet. Once you paid attention to him he kind of sucked you in. And we hit it off from that moment on," she continued.
Describing Shakur as a "best friend", "brother" and "father figure" to her, Smith emotionally shared "The type of relationship we had…you only get that once in a lifetime."
