LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jeff Dye was taken into custody after he crashed into a tree and ran away from the scene.
The 'Who the BLEEP Is That?' host was also booked on misdemeanor charges by the Burbank Police Department on Sunday, October 8 at 9.56 am local time. Public inmate records show that he was booked in the Burbank Jail nearly an hour later, per People.
Was Jeff Dye driving under the influence?
Dye has been charged for apparently driving under the influence at the time of the crash. The star was let go without bail at 1.04 pm, once a magistrate reviewed the case.
Sgt Stephen Turner, a public information officer with Burbank Police, said that authorities responded to a single traffic collision at Pass Avenue and Alameda Avenue around 9.30 am, reports People. Dye reportedly fled on foot after his Tesla collided with a tree.
"Witnesses relayed the driver of a white Tesla collided with a tree and the driver fled on foot," Sgt Turner declared, adding, "Based on witness description, the driver was located just a few blocks east of the scene and detained pending investigation."
He was soon arrested and charged after talking to witnesses and taking Dye’s statement. "No other vehicles were involved, and nobody was injured," Sgt Turner assured.
According to a source, Dye’s loved ones are "concerned for him and hope he gets the help he needs." Dye's lawyer and representatives are yet to make a comment on the incident.
How did Jeff Dye begin his career?
Dye made it to the finals on the sixth season of NBC's ‘Last Comic Standing’ in 2008 and managed to finish the third. The winner of the show was Iliza Shlesinger and the runner-up was Marcus.
The 40-year-old kept busy with a series of tours and festivals after his television success and bagged his very own half-hour Comedy Central special in 2010.
Dye is also known for his works for ABC's ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’, Fox's ‘The Masked Singe’ and ‘I Can See Your Voice’, and NBC's ‘Better Late Than Never,’ starring along with William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman, and Henry Winkler in the latter.
The comedian presently hosts hist own podcast, ‘Jeff Dye's Friendship Podcast’ and also co-hosts ‘Wrestling with Freddie’ alongside Freddie Prinze Jr.
In October 2020, Dye once again came under the spotlight when he was spotted kissing the reality star Kristin Cavallari at a Chicago bar, not long after her divorce from Jay Cutler. The pair went on a trip to Mexico a couple of months later and were even spotted having lunch and coffee together in Los Angeles in February 2021.
They finally called it quits on their casual romance in March 2021.
