BOCA RATON, FLORIDA: Political commentator Ben Shapiro came under fire after speaking about "possibility of nuclear exchange" amid the Israel-Hamas war, saying that unless the US provided material aid to Israel, it could find itself in a scenario where it might attack its neighbors with nuclear weapons.
Shapiro made the comment during a segment of 'The Ben Shapiro Show' on Daily Wire, a network he co-founded. The clip of Shapiro's remarks was shared by Patrick Casey @restoreorderusa on X (formerly Twitter) and garnered over 1.2 million views.
"Today Ben Shapiro told his audience that unless the United States provides material aid to Israel, it could find itself in a scenario where it’s nuking its neighbors," Casey wrote in the caption of his post alongside Shapiro's "nuclear exchange" quote.
What did Ben Shapiro say about 'nuclear exchange?'
During a recent segment of 'The Ben Shapiro Show,' the host spoke about the current situation in Israel while discussing about Hezbollah and Hamas.
"The real risk for Israel in not finishing off Hamas right now is that this is taken as a sign of weakness, as it certainly would be, by Hezbollah," Shapiro said.
"Hezbollah is a far more dangerous terrorist group than Hamas. Hamas is a dangerous terrorist group they just proved it by killing 1300 Jews. Hezbollah currently has over a hundred thousand highly sophisticated rockets aimed directly at the North of Israel," he continued.
"Estimates suggest that were Hezbollah to fire all of these rockets, we wouldn't be talking about 1300 dead Jews but we would be talking somewhere between 20 and 30 thousand dead Jews day one," the political commentator added.
"If Hezbollah gets in, Israel will have no choice but to unleash the airforce. If they unleash the airforce they will not be worrying about civilian casualties at all," he stated.
"They are simply going to have to eviscerate the entire South of Lebanon and top of the regime in Lebanon supports Hezbollah. If that happens, Iran undoubtedly gets involved and so does Syria," Shapiro claimed.
"If that happens and Israel is now faced with a full war in the North, combined with a war in the South, at least now that they have defeated Hamas that's the predicate, if Israel is forced to the wall, the possibility of nuclear exchange is extremely high. That is why it it very important that the United States provide the material aid to Israel," he concluded.
Internet calls out Ben Shapiro over 'nuclear exchange' comment
Several social media users called out Shapiro over his remarks on 'nuclear exchange.'
"I think this is the end of @benshapiro career. He’s embarrassed himself so much over the last few weeks, now declaring nuclear war. I thought Israel didn’t have nukes??" one user said.
"Ben is an example of why you should never have people making decisions when they are emotionally compromised," one mentioned.
"Does terminally dumb #BenShapiro know about the fallout* from a nuclear bomb? Clearly not. *At a distance of 20-25 miles downwind, a lethal radiation dose (600 rads) would be accumulated by a person who did not find shelter within 25 minutes after the time the fallout began…" a third commented.
One said, "Can he stop his hypocrisy?" while another added, "What is wrong with him? 'Eviscerating civilians' in airstrikes what a disgusting human."
