RICHMOND, TEXAS: A teenager was arrested and faces murder charges after he shot dead a 17-year-old girl at a home in Richmond, Texas. Just days after the incident, Hannah Layton’s mother revealed that the only thing she knows so far is that her only daughter was “shot in her baby brain, and she died instantly,” on Thanksgiving weekend.
During Patricia Layton’s heart-rending interview with local ABC affiliate KTRK, the devastated single mother said in an on-camera interview Wednesday, November 29, that she doesn’t know anything about the 16-year-old suspect other than he was from Richmond. “This is my daughter, my only daughter,” the mother said through tears.
Who is the suspect in Hannah Layton's killing?
The suspect has not been named since he is a minor, but he may be identified if he is charged as an adult with murder. For now, he is reportedly in juvenile detention. According to the outlet, the teen was reportedly the one who dialed the emergency responders after the November 25 nighttime shooting unfolded at the Crestwood Drive home.
Patricia Layton is pleading for answers, including any information from the public about the suspect that may assist the Richmond Police Department’s investigation. “I want justice for my daughter. I want justice,” the mother said, adding “Justice will be served.”
Patricia Layton's emotional post after her daughter's death
KTRK reported that the suspect lives at the home where the shooting took place.
Following the ordeal, Patricia Layton posted online that Hannah was shot in the back of the head. “Today I received some very bad news, Today my daughter Hannah Rafaela Layton was shot in the back of the head. She has passed and is now with the Lord Jesus,” she said, adding “My heart is so broken and I’m constantly crying. Plz keep my family and me in prayer. I’m don’t feel well. God give me strength.”

The mother also posted that the family is holding a benefit this Saturday, December 2, in Rosenberg, where food, a bake sale, and raffle proceeds will go towards covering Hannah Layton’s funeral expenses.
