The 62-year-old was completely taken aback by Strahan’s behavior who appeared out of nowhere and sat on her lap.
At the time, Roberts was interviewing Women’s NBA star, Breanna Stewart. The former NFL star saw an opportunity and took it, hoping it would make for a hearty laugh for everyone in the studio.
But after his antics, when Strahan got up from the lap, Roberts took her cue cards and hit his butt with it.
Robin Roberts swats co-star Michael Strahan’s butt for sitting on her lap
During one of the latest episodes of the morning show, Roberts was indulged in a conversation with an NBA guest, Breanna Stewart.
They discussed Stewart being the first Liberty player to gain the title of MVP. After chatting about her career and her future, the ‘GMA’ host told everyone where to watch the next game.
While she was finishing her sentence, she looked over to the side, as Strahan, came into the frame.
Strahan squatted down to sit on Roberts’ lap and pretended to catch a fake basketball forcing her to say, "Don't you post me up again!”
Roberts tried to get him off her as the crew and hosts laughed off-set. Strahan weighed 256 pounds and refused to get up.
When he finally got up and began to walk off, Roberts took her cue cards and hit his butt lightly.
"Get out of here!”, she said.
Roberts was so struck by this incident that she couldn’t complete her interview with Stewart and threw the segment to Ginger Zee for the weather report.
Later Zee thanked Strahan for showing the viewers what “posting up” means.
The definition is simply, “to take up a position against a defender in the post in basketball while standing with one's back to the basket.”
