LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Gilgo Beach killings, reportedly conducted hundreds of explicit Google searches for frightening content, including child porn. Six charges of murder have been brought against Rex Heuermann, one of first-degree murder and one of second-degree murder for each of the three victims. Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello were sex workers who became the alleged serial killer's prey.
Heuermann looked up child pornography 'thousands of times'. He also looked up case updates online. Some of the sick search terms he plugged into Google included 'girl begging for rape porn' and 'teenage girl begging for rape porn.' Heuermann has two children and is married. However, these searches could be linked to the body of a child that was found on the beach. As the investigation ties up loose ends to find the truth, web sleuths have started to speculate about this case online. The online investigators took to Reddit to spill their theories about the case.
Child-sized doll kept in wood and glass case was found in Heuermann's home
In 2011, a child or newborn body was found at the Long Island dumping sites of the suspected serial murderer. Cops also hauled away a child-sized, fair-haired doll kept in a large wooden and glass case from Rex Heuermann's home. Web sleuths speculated, based on Heuermann's Google searches, that maybe sex workers were not the alleged serial killer's only prey.
'They need to be looking into missing children too'
One of the users asked the police authorities to look into missing children cases in the period of the Gilgo Beach murders because of the suspect's heinous web searches. The user wrote, "They need to be looking into missing children because of this scumbag too. To me there's two major reasons why they need to be looking into missing children along with other missing sex workers when it comes to this guy." The user added points, "1. His victims that we know of are young (legal age) petite sex workers. 2. His search history shows a concerning history of looking for violent child pornography." In the end user added, "There's more reasons but these are the primary two that would make me unfortunately not put it past him to be behind the disappearance of at least one child. I think investigators should look in that direction too if they haven't."
Another user wrote, "Absolutely! A toddler was found among the gilgo remains (said to be the daughter or child of a sex worker) but who's to say the child wasn't brought in to be abused by her own mother? Anything is possible."
'I think we'll all be shocked at the end of this investigation'
The third user wrote, "You realize the feds are like miles ahead of everybody and have released just base knowledge on the case right? They're looking into that and things we don't even know about, 100%. The killer himself was keeping up to date with his own case online religiously, and he was dumb enough to throw a pizza box in the trash, which seemingly is a way a lot of these killers are caught anymore. Point is, I think we'll all be shocked at the end of this investigation what's uncovered, they're purposely not releasing everything."
