MARINA DEL REY, CALIFORNIA: Kanye West and Ice Cube reunited and seemingly made peace after their alleged fallout over the antisemitism controversy. The musicians were photographed smiling and sharing a hug outside Cube’s home in Marina Del Rey, California on Friday, June 2. In the photos, West could be seen wearing a black short-sleeve shirt and black pants.
He also wore a black pair of sock shoes to complete his look. Meanwhile, Cube donned a black hoodie, denim jeans, Nike sneakers, and a LA Dodgers baseball cap. West was reportedly seen in good spirits before leaving in his car, Page Six reported. Their reunion comes after West attributed Cube to being the source of his antisemitic thoughts. The latter strongly denied the allegations and confirmed that he is not an antisemite.
What happened between Ice Cube and Kanye West?
Last year, West consistently made news for his public antisemitic tirade that led to his suspension from social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. The ‘Donda’ creator openly praised Hitler during an appearance on the ‘Drink Champs’ podcast, tweeted about going “death con 3 on Jewish people” and blamed Jews for trying to “black ball” him for his opinions.
In a now-deleted episode, West claimed that Cube “really influenced” him to “get on this anti-Semite vibe.” The ‘It Was A Good Day’ immediately took to Twitter to deny West’s claims. “I hate that my name was dragged into this Drunk Champs bullsh*t. I don’t know what Ye meant by his statements, you’re gonna have to ask him,” Cube tweeted at the time.
“I didn’t put the batteries in his back. Please leave my name out of all the antisemitic talk. I’m not antisemitic and never have been,” he added. Cube doubled down on his claims last December and said he was not to be blamed for West’s comments. “Like, homie. You gotta stand on this one on your own,” Cube said on the ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’ show.
“That’s all that was about. You know, I didn’t say nothin’. It’s just, at the end of the day, I just had to let everybody know that don’t blame me for s**t. Talk your s**t if you want to, but don’t blame me for s**t. If I ain’t up there speaking for myself, don’t blame me,” the rapper stated at the time.
‘Legendary meet up’
Fans were quick to respond to West and Cube’s meetup and took to Facebook to react to meetup. “Two legendary much love,” one wrote. “Legendary meet up,” added another. “Two Geminis during Gemini season,” one noted. “What’s in the works ? A movie? A clothing product? Or last but not least Music ? Lol,” a fourth user asked.
One said, “Ahh just grown a** men saying hi to each other” while another added, “Haterz gon keep on hatin' and keepin' tab on him...Y'all, well, well, well,it's pretty nice seeing Ye in good shape and fate.” One gushed, “Love to see it” and another wrote, “Bigg love.”
