SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis found himself thrust into an unusual spotlight after delivering several fierce arguments during the second Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, September 27.
The 45-year-old DeSantis in his arguments took furious digs at former president Donald Trump and spoke about several other topics including the US military, healthcare system, and Florida’s education curriculum.
However, it wasn't his compelling talking points or policy proposals that garnered the most social media attention: it was his little make-up session.
As the furious debate unfolded, a Twitter user took to the platform to share a seemingly quirky video of DeSantis sticking his head out to get his make-up done during a brief break.
Another key highlight of the video was Nikki Haley’s reaction to DeSantis stooping forward to get a touch-up.
Internet mocks Ron DeSantis’ make-up session
DeSantis’ make-up session garnered immense social media attention, with one user saying, “It must be Rule 1. on the GOP campaign playbook. A little bronzer is NEVER enough.”
“He really knows how to lean in so the powder doesn’t get on his coat,” a second user jokes while the third wrote, “DeSatan got on MORE make-up than that Indian Lady.”
“Dude is on the runway ????,” a fourth user said. One more user pointed out Haley’s reaction saying, “Haley be like: ‘I’m in my happy place, happy place,…’”
“He stuck his neck out too early. He reminds me of a turkey,” another user asserted.
“Nikki’s inner dialogue: 'do I need more makeup? He puts a lot on. Should I? Nah he's pretty orange. But maybe..? Nah,’” one more user joked.
Ron DeSantis takes furious digs at Donald Trump
The 2024 hopeful had an aggressive start, where he used a question to take a furious dig at Trump for skipping the second GOP presidential primary debate.
“Where’s Joe Biden? He’s completely missing in action from leadership. And you know who else is missing in action? Donald Trump is missing in action. He should be on this stage tonight,” DeSantis said, jabbing at both the current and former presidents.
He also criticized the former president for adding to the national debt while serving as president. “He owes it to you to defend his record where they added $7.8 trillion to the debt, that set the stage for the inflation that we have now,” DeSantis added of Trump.
Trump, the frontrunner of the GOP presidential field, skipped the GOP’s first presidential debate in Milwaukee in August and passed on the second event held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Southern California.
