It's July 4th. That means Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest time. Currently in a delay, when will it resume?
The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest was slated to start some time ago on the Fourth of July, but unfortunately, weather in the New York City area and specifically the Coney Island area has put the event in a weather delay.
Here's the latest on the event as Joey Chestnut looks to continue his reign of dominance at the annual event.

At around 12:20 p.m. ET, Accuweather's minutecast said that heavy rain should change to light rain by 12:35 p.m. or so. Light rain persists until 12:40 p.m.
An areal flood watch is in effect for the next several hours as well, but precipitation is expected to pause by 1 p.m.

UPDATE: The 2023 Nathan's Hot Dog Contest has been canceled according to ABC 7 NY.
We all want nothing more than for this event to start and for the national pastime of eating way too much food to begin. It's a marvelous event that you can only help but just be in awe of every year it happens.
Right now, no official word has been given on the competition. But looking at the above forecast, one could assume the festivities should take off right around 12:45 p.m., or by 1 p.m. if event organizers prefer a more round number.
Any possible flooding could delay things further, though. Fingers crossed that this kicks off soon.
