LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: She may not be interested in having her own children, but Chelsea Handler is against child-free public spaces. Through a video on Instagram, the comedian said, “In South Korea, they have public spaces that are child-free zones, where you’re not allowed to have children. But it’s a public space and even I don’t agree with that.” The host of ‘Dear Chelsea’ told her colleague Catherine Law that “Like, children are a part of our human family. You don’t have to have them, but you can’t outlaw them.”
Handler further said, "If you have a business, fine, and you want to do that, that’s one thing, but public areas are for everybody." She addressed the fact that she herself chose to not have children of her own, "And this is me, everybody. We all know how I feel!” In her January interview, the 48-year-old star said, “I don't think I have the skills. I'm not equipped with what it takes to answer all those questions from children because they don't just ask you once. They come in, and in, and in,” as per People.
'I don't have the tolerance'
Handler also added, "I have enough nieces and nephews to know I don't have the tolerance for that kind of line of questioning about things that I really don't know the answers to. At a certain age, when you don't know the answer to questions, it's too embarrassing to ask questions."
According to a CNN report, South Korea has almost 500 child-free zones across, which include restaurants, and cafes. Though the majority of the population is in support of child-free zones, a different narrative is being pushed by mother and lawmaker Yong Hye-in, “Everyday life with children is not easy. Our society must be reborn into one where children are included.”
'He renewed my faith in men'
Chelsea Handler recently shared that she’s ‘single’ after separating from Jo Koy last year. The duo still share a great bond as per the comedian, "Our split was beautiful. It really was.” She initially shared the news on Instagram, "It is with a heavy heart to announce that we have decided together that it is best for us to take a break from our relationship right now."
She thanked her former partner, "Because of him, my life experience has changed forever. To be loved and adored by @jokoy has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. He renewed my faith in men, in love, in being 100% who I am, and I've never been more optimistic for the future."
