Bryan Kohberger: Internet backs prosecution's move to seek death penalty for Idaho murder suspect, says 'he deserves it'

MOSCOW, IDAHO: The Internet and well-wishers of the victims were relieved as reports were recently released stating that prosecutors plan to seek the death sentence for Bryan Kohberger. The Latah County Prosecutors' Office has reportedly decided to plead the execution of the alleged killer who was accused in November 2022 of murdering Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin because the stabbings were "heinous, atrocious or cruel, manifesting exceptional depravity."

In a letter, the prosecutors have stated, "The State gives this notice based on the fact that it has not identified or been provided with any mitigating circumstances sufficient to prohibit the tiers of fact from considering all penalties authorized by the Idaho legislature including the possibility of a capital sentence," as reported by FOX6. "Consequently, considering all evidence currently known to the State, the State is compelled to file this notice of intent to seek the death penalty," further read the letter.

'Well deserved'

The development in the quadruple murder case has received a lot of attention online, and netizens took to social media, especially Twitter, with their opinions regarding the notice from the authorities. One user wrote, "Good. Great. Well deserved!" Another commented, "If guilty he deserves it!!" While one emphasized how they would like the accused to be punished, writing, "Found guilty, put a little goody bag that contains all the things a convict wants in prison. Then surgically place a string from the bag around the pulmonary artery to the lungs. Release him in Gen Pop. When they rip the bag from him tear the artery so he drowns in his own blood." "Thank goodness!!!" wrote one, while another stated, "He callously ended the lives of 4 innocent people. He destroyed their future, their families, and everyone who loved them. If there was ever someone who deserved the death penalty, it's Kohberger. ????." "I hope that the state can prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and may god be with this jury to make the decision of the death penalty," a person remarked, hoping that the decision of the death penalty stays put. "I'm not a fan of the death penalty but I'll make an exception in this case," remarked a person who was clearly shocked to learn the details of Kohberger's case.

'Death penalty only provides an 'escape' to suffering'

Even though most people sided with the decision of the authorities, some suggested otherwise regarding Kohberger's fate. "What really is adequate punishment for this heinous act? Death is easy. Truly, nothing will bring these families peace," a Twitter user commented, while one wrote, "It would be so much worse to let him sit in prison for the next 50 or 60 years. On Death Row, he'll be pretty well protected. In general pop, he'd be a target for every banger. If they let him live, hems have 60 godawful years. DR will cost millions more than LWOP," who certainly wants to see the accused suffer as much as possible. "With the Death Penalty, he will get lots of opportunities for appeals. If the Prosecution messes up in any way and he is given the death penalty, you never know what kind of appeal he could find as he is a Criminal Justice Major. He should just get LWOP in my opinion," wrote one, explaining how he would be able to still appeal against the death penalty. One user opined, "Much better if they do him 50 years in jail than putting him to sleep. Death penalty only provides an 'escape' to suffering."
