LAS VEGAS, NEVADA There are mixed reactions on the Internet to the video of Britney Spears getting 'struck' by NBA star Victor Wembanyama as police refuse to slap any charges suggesting she inadvertently struck herself. In a video, first revealed by TMZ which has since gone viral Britney is seen approaching Victor outside Catch restaurant in Vegas on Wednesday night.
The athlete continues to walk alongside a security guard. Britney, who had been running and screaming "Sir, Sir", reaches him from behind, she tries to tap his shoulder as claimed by her in her social media post. However, the security, without looking back, flings his arm which strikes the singer's hand. The video shows no record of the athlete being grabbed from behind, as claimed by Victor.
'This is a standard response'
Meanwhile, the cops have decided not to charge Victor Wembanyama's guard as according to the police report Britney Spears' security team told cops the guard did not appear to strike the singer in the face with a closed fist. "This is a standard response for most security/bodyguards. It would not be uncommon for them to respond this way," both of Spears guards said as per the publication.
'No charges will be filed'
The cops citing the surveillance video said it shows that after Spears touched Wembanyama, the Spurs player's security guard "pushes her hand off of the player without looking which causes Britney's hand to hit herself in the face." A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer wrote in the report, "Due to the fact that [Wembanyama's guard] did not willfully or unlawfully use any force or violence upon Britney and probable cause did not exist an Arrest was not made and a Citation was not given." They said the investigation into the incident concluded on Friday and "no charges will be filed."
'He is not swinging on people'
Meanwhile, the internet has mixed responses to the video with some suggesting that the singer hasn't lied and has in fact tapped the shoulder and that the guard was to be blamed for blindly swinging. "Why is he blindly swinging to protect a 6’11 dude from what he probably thought was a random chick anyway?" a Twitter user wrote. Few had a moderate view as one wrote, "This is tricky because it seems the security didn’t even look back to check. He was just trying to slap away her arm when she tried to touch Victor. Most security will do the same." One more user wrote, "He is not swinging on people. He's securing his client like any other security job."
'Britney Spears is at fault is the only correct answer','
"The way they exaggerated this was crazy," wrote a user. One more while defending Spears wrote, "She was going to congratulate him on his success." "Should've kept her hands to herself,'' pointed out another user. "Wow. Everyone is always caught in 4K. Wemby lied about the encounter…," wrote one user. "Britney Spears is at fault is the only correct answer,' one user remarked.
'Wow so they lied about Britney grabbing him'
"Wow so they lied about Britney grabbing him," wrote a fan. "On behalf of everyone, we stand with Britney Spears!," wrote another user. "I love you Britney but that wasn’t a big deal. The guy was doing his job, and didn’t look back when throwing the hand, that’s what I see. His fault was not to look back before," a TV actor wrote. "This is what I have been waiting to see but she obviously didn't grab him as reported," one more pointed out. "Wtf … poor Britney she’s an icon !" wrote one more user.
