He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where he studied film and acted in plays such as 'Dead Man's Cell Phone' and 'Six Characters in Search of an Author', in 2015.
Austin reportedly transferred to Vanderbilt University but eventually returned to the University of Notre Dame to complete his studies. He then interned at Lionsgate, where he had responsibilities like making and sending out screeners.
He made his film debut in the 2016 thriller 'I.T.' starring Pierce Brosnan and went on to appear in films like 'Live by Night', 'Braking for Whales', and Marc Meyers' horror thriller 'We Summon the Darkness'.
Austin has also acted in Megyn Kelly's political drama 'Embeds', Todd Berger's 'Cover Versions' as well as sitcoms such as 'Still the King.'
Speaking about his journey as an actor, Austin once said, "I’m pretty reserved in most circumstances, so [acting] never seemed like it would be a good fit. But I kind of got thrust into it and realized that it could be an opportunity to be creative," The Things reported.
While Austin's last acting role was 'We Summon the Darkness' in 2019, he also decided to work as a producer for the movie before producing for his pop star sister.
The 31-year-old served as a producer for Swift's 'I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor's Version)' music video, for which he collaborated with his elder sister and actress Blake Lively.
The video even earned Austin his first ACM nod in 2022 alongside Swift and Lively in the video of the year category.
Austin was also listed as an executive producer on Swift's Disney+ documentary 'Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions'.

More recently, Ness and Austin were seen accompanying Swift at the Kansas City Chiefs' match on October 1.
A look at Austin Swift's close relationship with sister Taylor Swift
Swift has long been known to share a close-knit bond with her younger brother, Austin.
While the Swift siblings spent the early years of their lives in Pennsylvania, Austin moved to Nashville with their family to support Swift's music career.
Speaking to People about the beginning of Swift's musical journey, the proud brother once said, "When we were kids, I saw Taylor write songs every day for years when there was no one to play them to."
He also recalled that when Swift was in middle school, he spent his spring break in Nashville "watching her go door-to-door dropping off demo CDs at labels that never called."
While Swift is one of the biggest music artists in the world today, Austin "was there when she was performing at karaoke contests and in the corners of parties with the same enthusiasm she now plays to stadiums full of her fans."
"Having seen that example, how much goes in, how long it took… That’s always going to be the bedrock for who I am and who I want to be," he told People in 2016.
Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2017, Austin shared how he has always admired Swift's talent and work. "She found singing, and I knew from very early on that that was her direction. She was never going to quit; that was her thing, that was her life. . . and I was always a little bit, you know, doing this, doing that," he said.
Back in 2016, Austin even took to Instagram to share a video of him throwing away Yeezy merch in the trash following the release of Kanye West's infamous Swift diss track 'Famous'.
As Austin continued to support Swift over the years, attending prominent events and award shows with the pop star, the 'BlankSpace' hitmaker also made equal efforts to support her brother.
"It’s National Siblings Day! My brother Austin Swift is one of my best pals, and I’m really proud of him because he’s in a film that came out today called We Summon The Darkness (which he also co-produced). Photo by Gigi. My facial expression by 3 glasses of wine. #nationalsiblingsday," Swift wrote in a 2020 post on Facebook.
According to The List, Austin allegedly even unfollowed Joe Alwyn on Instagram after the latter's six-year relationship with Swift came to an end earlier this year.
However, Austin has already accompanied Swift to watch her new beau Kelce playing on the field last month.
