The tweet, which was shared less than 24 hours after the tragic deaths of the five passengers in the OceanGate Titanic exploration submersible incident were confirmed, appeared to mock the victims.

On June 23, Tate appeared to belittle and ridicule victims of the Titan submersible in a tweet. Tate wrote, "I dont care what submarine im on if wifey needs me ill be right there :) On my way baby, swimming baby, have a towel waiting baby."
In recent months, Tate has incorporated the term 'wifey' into his social media posts as a way to refer to women and uphold his alpha male persona. Tate's mockery of the submarine garnered significant attention from social media users.

After Tate's tweet regarding the five Titan submersible victims, numerous users went on to share their feelings concerning the incident as well as Tate's reaction.
