LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The trouble for composer Danny Elfman is further escalated after a second woman accused him of sexual assault.
The Grammy-winner is being sued by the 47-year-old for allegedly abusing her between 1997 and 2002.
She is also suing his company, Musica de la Muerta, for sexual assault, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment, and negligence, as per court documents filed on Thursday, October 19.
Plaintiff met Danny Elfman in 1997 for the first time
The Maryland woman, going by the name Jane Doe XX, alleged that she met Elfman in April 1997, during a party.
Only 21 then, she was regularly invited by the composer to industry events, asking for her opinion on films and music, while treating her as “a consultant and protege.”
Jane Doe, in her filing, claimed that for the next five years when the plaintiff and Elfman were alone together, the latter “removed all of his clothing until he was completely nude, and walked around nude in front of Plaintiff, exposing his genitals.”
“Defendant Elfman expressed to Plaintiff that this was the only way he could work, be creative, and successful.”
She reasoned that since Elfman’s stature in the entertainment industry, “she had no choice but to always comply with his requests, and Plaintiff felt this was a condition of their continued relationship.”
Danny Elfman allegedly used to sleep naked next to her
The plaintiff alleges she on certain occasions slept in the same bed as Elfman, “never removing her clothing, often sleeping on top of the bedding.” Meanwhile, Elfman slept naked next to her.
It was in around 2002 when Elfman told her, “Every time you have ever slept next to me, I would masturbate next to you.” That's when she reportedly ended her relationship with him, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
As per the first complainant, Nomi Abadi, who filed the lawsuit against the composer in 2018 claimed Elfman used to expose himself and masturbated in front of Abadi without her consent many times.
Jane Doe XX reached out to Abadi’s attorney, Jeff Anderson, after reading her account.
“The similarities are so striking. Around the same age, both aspiring in the entertainment industry, looking to him as a powerful mentor and trusting him and not in a position to recognize that they were each being used and abused,” Jane Doe XX told him.
The second woman is now seeking damages “including but not limited to medical and incidental expenses and loss of earnings.”
Meanwhile on the fresh lawsuit, Elfman's spokesperson stated, “The allegations of misconduct made against Mr Elfman are baseless and absurd. His legal team is assessing all options and he will vigorously defend these claims in court.”
