LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Adele, who is among the most celebrated pop singers of her generation, recently revealed to her fans that she has quit drinking.
The iconic singer told fans at her Vegas residency on Saturday, October 14, that she had quit alcohol three months ago.
“I stopped drinking maybe like three-and-a-half months ago,” she said while performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
“I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my 20s, but I miss it so much," said Adele.
Adele has also 'cut out caffeine' from her daily life
The 35-year-old admitted that “it’s boring” to quit drinking, before adding that she has also “cut out caffeine” from her regular diet.
“So enjoy your whiskey sour. I’m very, very jealous,” she said to a fan in the audience in a video shared on X. She even wrote a song about her drinking ‘I Drink Wine.’
“When I was a child / every single thing could blow my mind / Soaking it all up for fun / but now I only soak up wine,” Adele sings in the song which came out in 2021, as per New York Post.
Adele told Vogue the same year how the Covid-19 pandemic severely affected her drinking habit.
“I’m always a bit hungover on Monday morning. Lockdown turned me into a seven-nights-a-week wine drinker, I tell her. She nods and says: It got earlier and earlier, the drinking," she said.
She further told the outlet, “I’ve always had a very close relationship with alcohol.”
"I was always very fascinated by alcohol. It’s what kept my dad from me. So I always wanted to know what was so great about it," said Adele.
The singer shared that she was quite drunk during the Grammy Awards in February. Lizzo confirmed in an interview, “I legitimately was so drunk,” she said on ‘Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.’ “Me and Adele were drinking so much that we didn’t even really know what the categories were at this point,” she said.
“We were like, ‘Did they do Best Artist?'” the 34-year-old said, adding “We didn’t even know, and when it was time and they would call our names we would just be like, ‘Smile.'”
“I brought it for Adele, and then I drank hers,” she cheekily admitted, adding “I had so many flasks. I had like three flasks at the table. Always be prepared.”
The ‘Hello’ singer told Oprah Winfrey on quitting alcohol, “That’s one great way of really sort of getting to know yourself, is just drinking water and being sober as anything.”
